Corporate Partnership

The 50th district of Madhya Pradesh formed in 2008 - "Singrauli" is also sometimes called "Oorjadhani", the Energy Capital. Indeed, with nearly 10% of India's total thermal power generation envisaged from this area and more than Rs. 1 lakh crore worth of investment being made here, it is poised for a major transformation.

Besides Northern Coalfields Ltd. (NCL; with all its mines and corporate office) a mini ratna public sector undertaking (PSU) and subsidiary of Coal India Ltd., a Maha Ratna Central PSU and 3 power plants of NTPC including the 1st (Singrauli STPS at Shaktinagar), Rihand and India's largest Vindhyachal we have Reliance Power and its Sasan Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) and associated coal mines of Moher-Amlohri & Chhatrasal, Hindalco with its Mahan Aluminium (Smelter and Captive Power Plant - CPP) at Bargawan, Essar's Independent Power Plant (IPP), Mahan Coal Ltd. (a JV of Essar & Hindalco), Jaypee's Power Plant (IPP) with 2 coal mines in JV with MP State Mining Corporation and other corporate players waiting to make it big here, we have a conducive atmosphere for corporate-enabled improvement of quality of life (QoL) of citizens.

With the commitment of the corporate sector towards sustainable development and their resolve to take care of "triple bottom-line" approach and also, mandated under the new Companies Act, 2013 that has laid clear statutory provisions under corporate social responsibility (CSR) there is a great deal of certainty in the area of corporate partnership of IRCS Singrauli towards this end.

In fact, the very first project of IRCS Singrauli, that is, setting up of a blood bank has become possible only because of corporate partnership with active role and funding from NCL and NTPC.

Many activities and projects are being conceived in a synergistic partnership. For example training for "First Aid" of the standard of St. John Ambulance Association. The later is now part of IRCS. There are statutory compulsions for all mine officials to undergo such training. Also, there was a vision of HE the President of India, Dr A P J Abdul Kalam to make every citizen of the country trained in first aid. Similarly, we can make joint efforts on awareness of sanitation and preventive health-care, disaster mitigation, vocational training, etc.
